On April 17, 2012 the South Jordan City Council approved the "Accessory Living Unit Ordinance". The new ordinance allows, by permit, for the approval of accessory apartments and guest houses in certain single family residential zones under certain qualifications. Specific standards for proposed and previously built accessory living units are outlined in the new ordinance. Depending on the nature and complexity of the accessory unit, Planning Commission review and approval may also be required.
